For every consultant we have at Drummond, we have two full-time headhunters. This forms an elite incubator team that delivers the best possible service to our clients. The role of the head-hunter is to contact experienced Recruitment Consultants who do not currently work for our clients. Occasionally there is immediate interest or we are given a recommendation/referral, however most of our candidates are generated through regular contact over a period of several months and sometimes years. As soon as a potential candidate shows interest, a meeting is scheduled with the headhunter’s consultant either at our office or an off-site mutual location.
As a result of our patient and exhaustive generation process, 90% of our candidates work with us exclusively. We pre-agree with these exclusive candidates which of our extensive client list they would like to meet and we then proceed with the introduction.
No-one presents candidates to their clients like Drummond. Of course we will sell the candidate to you, it’s our job, but we will give you facts, not fiction. We won’t just tell you what they have billed, we will tell you the percentage that is new business versus account management, how much is permanent versus contract, if they manage an account, did they win it themselves or did they inherit it, what their restrictions are in relation to porting over business, notice periods, did they grow their team or inherit them, if there is a gap in their CV, why and so on. We will also tell you what they look like, sound like, when they can come and see you, which other of our clients they are meeting and most importantly how fast you need to move and how much you need to pay them if you like them.
Contrary to popular belief, we are not hard closers. If a client and a candidate show mutual interest in each other, we do everything in our power to ensure that they end up working together. More often than not however, we will have more than one company interested in a candidate and in this case, we put all the options to the candidate and let them decide. After all it’s their career!
